The Difference Between LUA Dalmatians and Our Dalmatians
In the world of Purebred Dalmatians this is a very controversial topic between the breeders in Canada as well as the United States of America. Dalmatians are a breed along with many other dogs and breeds that can form kidney stones and crystals. We avoid this by lots of water/peeing and no organ meat or food that is high in purines. However some breeders wanted a dog that didn't have a chance of forming crystal or stones (which all dogs do), so they Cross bred the dalmatian and introduced the LUA Dalmatian. The LUA Dalmatian is a cross between a German Shorthaired Pointer and a Dalmatian; this was done to lower the risk of kidney stone formers. Even though this crossed breeds the CKC allowed these dogs to be registered as purebred Dalmatians. There are some claims that they are a healthier dog; however it has not be proven. We breed Dalmatians, which are healthy and beautiful. We DO NOT and WILL NOT breed LUA dogs as we believe there is no difference in the health of our lines and the LUA dogs lines. At Paisleypella Dalmatians we breed Purebred Dalmatians that are healthy, intelligent and long lived!
